As we felt a Welcome Week wasn’t really enough to introduce everything we have to offer to our exchange students, we decided to organize a whole month full of activities at the beginning of every semester. Starting with the Welcome Day in the University, in which we introduce ESN and the city to the newcomers, our Erasmus students have some 30 days to understand that “Erasmus exchanges your life, ESN twists it” is much more than a simple catch phrase! During this time we organize theme parties, dinners, trips, tours of Milan, sports events and cultural events of different kinds, so that anyone can satisfy their inclinations and interests.

To improve your italian, you'll get an italian Tandem, and you'll teach him your language! And to learn with fun, you can also join our Tandem League : nights in which you’ll improve your italian with songs, dances, bowling, language and cultural games.

We have a Culture Team always looking for new cultural activities to offer to our Erasmus students: we find special price tickets for theatre plays, we organize city tours at the beginning of every semester (and sometimes even theme city tours), we show them the most interesting exhibitions taking place in Milan and the beauties of the city (like the Castello Sforzesco and Leonardo da Vinci’s “Last Supper”, to only name a couple) and we’re trying to organize a little cineforum of our own. We make sure to give these activities a pleasant and cosy atmosphere, always starting or finishing by having a drink, a pizza or just an ice cream with our Erasmus students. So far this year we organized more than 30 events of this kind and our exchange students really love them: they are cheap (and often free), interesting and pleasant, and they often help them to better understand the Italian culture.

Is an international project of ESN Io avrei detto “An ESN international project” with the aim of involving international students participating in a university exchange in social and volunteering activities in their host country. This project promotes a social attitude among international students and facilitates their social integration into the local community while exploring the added value that resides in the diversity in Europe.

Erasmus students usually go back home for the winter holidays and we don’t get to celebrate the New Year with them: that’s sad, but there’s not much we can do about that, right? …wrooong! Here at ESN Milano Statale we decided we could have our own New Year’s Eve in the middle of December, so that we could celebrate with our Erasmus friends before they left. The event proved to be extremely successful, a real must for our exchange students: so in 2010 we decided to open it to other Italian ESN sections. With the support of ESN Italy, the Crazy Countdown became part of the Erasmus Countdown, an event in which more than 1400 Erasmus students gathered in Milan to visit the city (we were organizing guided tours and giving support to the ESN sections that needed it) and celebrate the New Year - ESN style!
